Dr Matthew was born in Sydney and completed his medical degree at the University of Adelaide, where he was awarded the prize in Paediatric Surgery and served as Chairman of the Adelaide Surgical Society.
Upon returning to Sydney, he gained surgical experience across several hospitals and in 2014, he was awarded Fellowship to the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP).
